Paris is Burning will always be one of my favorite films of all time.
I can honestly say that this film was the one that opened my eyes and my heart towards the gay community.
It makes me sad when I ask gay boys out there about the gay community and their history and they stare at me with confusion. Being gay isn’t about fucking other boys. It’s who you are! It’s so much more than sex. It’s fashion and friendship and love and a lifestyle all of your own.
Own it. Work it. Be who God made you…but be safe and smart about it.
Paris is Burning is a great film. It’s real. Heartbreaking and funny and stylish and sick. But real.
